❧ Beginner's Mahjong at The Bird Bam Room ❧ This is a structured lesson for learning American Mahjong from the ground up in a relaxed, small-group setting. The lesson includes: • The history and basics of American Mahjong • Tile identification and what each tile represents • How to read and use the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card • The Charleston • Basic gameplay and table etiquette • How to recognize patterns and begin building hands • Guided practice with plenty of opportunities to ask questions No supplies are needed. Mahjong tiles, racks, and everything else you'll need are provided. ❧ About The Bird Bam Room ❧ The Bird Bam Room is an upstairs bonus room in my home that I've transformed into a dedicated Mahjong learning space. Class size is intentionally limited to 3–8 players to keep the experience personal and focused. Shoes-Off Room: The room has plush carpet, so please plan to remove shoes before coming upstairs. Clean socks, bare feet, or house shoes are welcome. Upstairs Location: The Bird Bam Room requires climbing a flight of stairs. ❧ Event Details ❧ • Advance registration is required. The address will be provided to attendees prior to the lesson. • If the event is full, please join the waitlist. • If you register and later find you can't attend, please cancel as soon as possible so your spot can be offered to someone on the waitlist. 💗 No Charge for Lessons | Donations Welcome There is no charge for the lesson. If you'd like to contribute, a $25 donation is suggested. If you'd like to give more, additional donations are always welcome.
