🀄 Mahjong for Beginners Lesson This Beginner Lesson is designed for those with no prior Mahjong experience. You will learn the fundamentals of American Mahjong step by step while building the confidence to join Guided Play and Open Play events afterward. During this hands-on lesson, you'll learn: 🀄 The history and basics of American Mahjong 🀄 Tile identification and what each tile represents 🀄 How to read and use the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card 🀄 The Charleston (tile exchange) 🀄 Basic gameplay and table etiquette 🀄 How to begin recognizing patterns and building hands 🀄 Guided practice with plenty of opportunities to ask questions No supplies are needed—we'll provide everything you need during class. At the end of the lesson, you'll know enough to continue learning at Guided Play sessions, where experienced players help you gain confidence before moving into Open Play. There is no fee or cost for Beginner Lessons. Optional donations are accepted to benefit women's and children's charities through Mahjong with a Mission, a donation-based initiative dedicated to growing the American Mahjong community while giving back. Proceeds currently are benefiting Once Upon A Room – Mobile, a nonprofit that provides comfort, hope, and joy to children and families facing serious illness, acute trauma, and extended hospital stays.
